Just lapland have a log cabin in Yllas. Yllas is the second ski resort in Lapland located at the bottom of the Lapland Fells. The skiing in lapland is in my opinion the best in the world. Most skiers visit the Alps or Canada but Lapland is much quieter than most resorts. If you visit in the month of December you will find the slopes extremely quiet, with the skiing season not yet underway, December is a really good time to have lessons or introduce children to skiing for the first time.
The ski slopes consist of 78 runs with all abilities. The lapland cross country skiing is second to none. The tracks start on the doorstep to the lapland cabin and in total run to 330km. You can literally ski to Sweden from lapland although you may be a little tired.
The Lapish culture around Christmas time is slightly different to what we may celebrate back home. On christmas eve in lapland most of the families have a sauna and visit families and have porridge with a hidden almond inside, the one who finds the almond has to sing a song. Between 5-7 on Christams eve in lapland Dinner is served which consists of Baked Ham, Rutabaga Casserole and similar holiday foods. The Christmas presents are given out in the evening during a visit from The Real Lapland Santa, it is his home after all.
