Holidays in Yllas Lapland has things for the entire family to enjoy whether it is summer, spring, Autumn or winter. For the holidays there is no place as magical as Yllas, it is like stepping right into one of Santa’s many villages.

Log Cabins are the greatest ways to gain the true Yllas winter experience. These cabins are only located in the best of  Lapland scenery. In winter, Yllas has a large musical history and is host to the largest blues jazz festivals that run in the end of January.

Snow can be found in Yllas for 6 or more months out of each year. This is a great way to make memories with your loved ones as you feel like a child again. Go outside play in the snow, make snow angels, have a snowball fight or build a mysterious snowman.

Since you can find a vast amount of reindeer here in Yllas, why not spend a day observing their habits and lifestyles? You and your guide can start out by tracking their hoof prints in the snow and following to their favorite destination the grazing hole.

You will fall in love with all the nature that surrounds you here in Yllas. Many different species of birds flourish here especially in the winter months. Watch as you are shopping or skiing for the magpie, sparrow and cross bills.

A favorite bird from these parts is the Siberian Jay. This friendly fellow is a skiers companion. If you stop and light a campfire then relax you will see them get closer to you, place a piece of bread within the palm of your hand and watch as they descend and sit upon your hand to eat the bread.

Children will also enjoy their time at Yllas. They can learn to ski, toboggan or learn snow shoeing. If they love animals then a trip to the village is recommended where nature spirits, elves and gnomes will guide them around town. You cannot leave without seeing the reindeer farm where herders work with these majestic creatures everyday.

Local foods you must try while here are whitefish, smoked reindeer, game meats, grouse, porridge, flat breads, Finnish squeaky cheese, sooty coffee and the cloudberries. There is also a tasty drink called Angelica garden juice.

You can learn to maneuver your own dog sled and go on a dog sled adventure for the day. It is fairly easy to learn and fun for the whole family.

There is natural ice all over and some designated specially for ice skating as well as forest skiing. A quick fact is that close to the Christmas holidays in Yllas Lapland the sun disappears for many days.
