Husky dogs and Lapland
A Husky safari through the snow covered fells of Lapland has got to be one of the most special activities to do in Lapland. From the very first moment when your guide picks you up from your Lapland Log Cabin, the excitement begins to rise. You will arrive at the husky dog farm and will immediately hear the sound of the eager dogs as they prepare to go off on the safari. Not all of the dogs are used at the same time and different dogs will be picked for different safaris depending on their strengths and weaknesses and of course certain dogs work much better together than others. It isn’t as simple as putting just any six dogs together, the guides work all year long training the dogs and know only too well which dogs are best for certain trips. You will walk up the snow covered drive and be introduced to some of the dogs which are resting, amongst those will be some of the adorable husky puppies which are together with some of the older dogs. You may also get the opportunity to pick up and handle some of the husky puppies which the children will absolutely love. If you opt for driving your own husky sledge, the guide will quickly run through the commands with you and if you are part of a group or a family, you will have the choice to have the smaller members of the family and one adult in the husky sledge. Once everyone is ready, the group will set off on the husky safari through the snow covered forests of Lapland. The dogs go at quite a speed but the sledge is covered with snugly, warm reindeer blankets and is extremely comfortable. The children especially, love this activity. You will stop off half way through your safari and have some refreshments, where the guide will explain a typical day in a husky dogs life, he will explain all about their habitat, diet and lifestyle and may go on to explain about all of the other safaris on offer. You really will enjoy the husky dog safari and taking the time to see all of the other dogs and their puppies. The husky farm is a great place to visit even if you don’t go out on safari and the children will just love the experience of interacting with the husky dogs and puppies.
