Lapland Ice Hotel
Situated about 1 hour by car Lapland Ice Hotel is a magical experience. There is as you would imagine an ice bar, ice glasses and you can stay the night in one of the Ice hotel bedrooms. Make sure you take a very warm sleeping bag for your stay as temperatures inside the Ice Hotel are rather chilly. You can travel to the Ice Hotel via an organised trip or you can independently travel if you have car hire or get a taxi. The other way to see the Ice Hotel is to combine it with a snowmobile ride. The ride would take about 1.5 hours and if you are a family you can opt for the snowmobile with a sleigh which can accomodate up to three people, ideal for families with young children. The Ice Hotel was origonally built as an igloo for an artist in 1990, it is situated in the Swedish village of Jukkasjarvi. It is recommended for those of you staying over for the night at the ice hotel that you spend one night in the warm ice hotel rooms and a further night in the warmer rooms to ensure your stay is as pleasurable as possible. The cold accomodation consists of Ice rooms, snow rooms and ice suites. The beds in each of the rooms are made from ice blocks and snow and are covered with Reindeer pelts. You are awoken in the morning with a hot cup of juice and you get full use of the sauna with towels provided in the price of your stay. There are three different rooms available in the warm accomodation, the Kaamos Hotel room, Nordic hotel chalet and the northern lights bedroom. Each room has a double or twin rooms. The Northern Lights bedroom is a particular attraction for those of you interested in the Northern Lights.
The Ice hotel is a wonderful experience with so much to see and do and if you do get the opportunity to go for a visit you will not be disappointed.
